Our Story

As much as this blog is the story of my life, it is equally a documentation of our life.

Nathan and I officially met in the summer of 2007. We both grew up in the same small(ish) town and therefore knew OF each other, but it wasn't until an early-June night that we were introduced for the first time. We exchanged numbers and a few nights later he invited me to get ice cream. What started out as casual dating quickly turned into something much more serious, and we never looked back.

Many miles were put on both of our vehicles during the first two years of our relationship. Nathan was working towards an associates degree at Virginia Tech while I was finishing up my undergraduate work and pursuing my Masters of Teaching at Virginia Commonwealth University. We made the long-distance thing work and when Nathan moved home for good after graduating in 2009, we started thinking more seriously about our future.

On December 6, 2009, while wearing pajamas and decorating my family's Christmas tree Nathan asked me to marry him. I, of course, said yes! In the midst of planning for our wedding, Nathan and I found an adorable little house and move in together in September 2010.'

On June 25, 2011, I easily made the best decision of my life when I walked down the aisle and said, "I do!" We followed our picture-perfect-for-us wedding with an equally amazing honeymoon in Antigua. Upon our return to the States, Nathan and I enjoyed our first year of newlywed-bliss in our new home. I brought my dog, Gisele with me when I moved in, and together Nathan and I purchased our first fur child, a black Great Dane we named Atlas. I started and finished my second year of teaching third grade, we hosted numerous Taco Tuesdays and game nights at our house, and Nathan and I traveled to places from Nags Head to Baltimore.

In September 2012 Nathan and I found out we were expecting our first child. In May
2013 I gave birth to our first son, Finley, a 9 pound, 4 ounce red-headed blessing.

In July 2015 we found out we would be expecting our second child, and in March 2016 our second red-headed son, River, made his dramatic entrance.

This is our family. This is our journey. It's not always pretty - in fact it's usually covered in dried yogurt residue and goldfish cracker crumbs - but it's us.
